Tuskegee Airmen Visit
The Tuskegee Airmen visited Hill Intermediate to speak to our students and staff. During their presentation they discussed how the were the forerunners of the Civil Rights Movement. The Tuskegee program began in June 1941 as the first African American fighter group formed by the Army Air Corps. They also made mention of how proud they were to serve their country, even though they were struggling with racism and isolation from the same country they were fighting for.
One of the Tuskegee Airmen's biggest accomplishments while in combat was that not a single bomber that they escorted was ever been shot down.
